Indecisive Career. . .

Bee

So you're probably wondering who is this country gal? Well here it is. I'm a short brown girl from the great Jackson, MS. I grew up with both my mom and dad at home with occasionally being interrupted by my two sisters. Growing up I never knew what I wanted to be, partly because I am very indecisive! There were times I wanted to be an FBI agent like Miss Congeniality, a Lawyer Legally Blonde, and a singer like Fantasia. If you haven't noticed I'm big on girly, or like my hubby would say, "them girlie, chick flicks". Crazy enough, after watching Grey's Anatomy and falling in love with McDreamy and McSteamy, I finally decided to become an OB/GYN.

Fast forward to graduating from Callaway High School, I was off to the amazing University of Southern Mississippi.Take me back! From the turn up parties on Thursday to having 8 o'clock labs on Fridays, USM was the perfect place for me to discover who I am meant to be in this world. SPOILER ALERT: I changed majors six times!! FInally graduating with a degree in Psychology, I was now determined to get my masters in Social Work. Two weeks after college graduation, I was engaged to the love of my life, moved to Louisiana, and had just got a rejection letter from LSU's Master Social Work program.

I was devastated because I felt that, by now, this has to be my calling. Welp, it didn't plan out that way. I am no longer pursuing my degree to become a social worker, but I have found my new love for teaching and helping youth. When I first got to Louisiana, I took a crappy job working for someone who just wanted to milk the system for children suffering from mental and physical disabilities. After only a month of working, I decided to serve a year to Baton Rouge children and become a CITY YEAR! This opened the door for me to strive and become an educator, a mentor, and an advocate for youth! When I look back over the years, I've been a mentor/tutor for kids ages 6-16 since I was 14 years old. It started with babysitting, to developing a program just for young women, creating a dance team, and being apart of AMERICORPS for four years! I'm still figuring these things out, but I do know that I am an EDUCATOR, MOTIVATOR, INNOVATOR, and ERADICATOR of the impossible.

Stay tuned for another blog about my career choices LOL- But heck, I may do a vlog discussing my indecisive career choices.
